I am getting my hair highlighted (Brown hair, blonde highlights) tommrrow and I am afraid that:
A. I won't like it
B. People will thinking I am trying to copy my close friend (Her hair is brown like mine and hers is highlighted, but my hair is curly and hers is straight.)
C. Everyone will hate it! (Even though I try not to care what poeple think I still don't want everyone to hate it)

Can someone plase reassure me or tell my what happened when they dyed their hair?

I just went from platinum blonde, to dark brown. HUGE change. If you don't like the way your hair turned out, you can always get it re-done. That's the cool part about dying your hair, it's not a permanent change like cutting your hair is.

I think you'll like it. Highlights are really pretty.

The thing with making your hair lighter, is that you can always dye it back to normal if you don't like it. I know you said you're doing it tomorrow, but if you're afraid in a situation like this, it's always best to do it on a friday night so you can decide over the weekend if you like it or not. You obviously shouldn't dye your hair RIGHT after you bleach it if you want it back to natural color, about 4-5 days, but a couple days can't matter all that much to leave it how it is. You can explain that you're going to fix it if it looks THAT bad. If you do end up dying it because you don't like it, use a semi-permanent first to moisturize the bleached hair and make it healthy, then use a permanent after a few weeks to make it last.

I know it's hard to not care what other people think, but really, they can get over it. It depends if you like it. You stare at your hair for hours every week, you should like it more than others.

If people think you copied your friend, explain to them calmly that you didn't, but don't freak out at anyone about it, which this shouldn't even be a problem.

You almost never like your hair at first, so if you decide to dye it, give it a couple of days. And besides, you don't want to pay that much money to change it right away.

I have NEVER had problems with getting highlights, but once I wanted them a bit darker and was really easy to "fix" and they didn't even charge me to make them darker a week later. It is much safer to get highlights than a total hair dye... you can get PARTIAL HIGHLIGHTS just in the front or bangs area to try it out first, and tell them you will be back in a few weeks to get the rest done if you like it. They won't charge you as much if you only get the front done, that would be safer for you, in case you don't like it. It's expensive to keep getting them done and your hair looks BAD if you let the roots grow out and don't get them touched up every couple of months, so that can determine if you want a NATURAL look (which can grow out without a lot of notice) or a more bold look which will require high maintenance.

YES! i can answer your question. Highlights may seem like a good thing now, but they are not. Highlighting is an ADDICTION and once you highlight you will start a continuing cycle of hair color addiction, your roots start to show easy and it is just not a very good thing. and once you highlight you can NEVER dye it perfectly back to it's natural color (trust me, i know)It will look really good when you get it done, but then it gets old fast when you have to color your dark roots all the time. All i can tell you is that if you get it done, make sure the color is only a FEW shades lighter than your natural one!!!! If it is too drastic than it will not look natural and pretty.

If you have doubts...try going with dark blonde highlights.....if you like the way it looks on you....then mid spring if you decide to highlight again, go with a lighter shade of blonde. It really depends on the shade of brown your hair is. The first time I tried highlights....they looked gray (I have dark brown hair and was trying to get blonde highlights without any red). I then had to use a toner to add color to the highlights. Two years later, tried highlights again and went with a dark blonde shade and LOVED the look!!! The important thing is to let a professional do it for you for the first time. They are trained to know what color mixture to use.

If you don't like it ......you can always color your hair back to the natural color.....Good Luck!

Highlights really aren't that big of a deal. It's a lot less traumatic than dying your hair completely, that's for sure. They grow out nicely if they're done correctly (talk to your stylist) and if you really don't like the way they look, let your stylist know at the time of your appointment, after you've had a good look at the finished product. If they're worth their salt they will work with you until you're happy.

One thing nice about highlights if you don't like them you can go by you natural color hair dye or a different color stain that will look better .You can always go darker if you don't like it light but it would have to be bleached if you went dark to light.I think if you like it do what the hell its only hair.

If you don't like it, you can dye it back yourslef for cheap! If other people hate it doesnt matter if you like it. You can't really go wrong with highlights, they're too easy:) Just get them fine and not thick or it'll look streakyxx
