I recently dyed my hair from its natural color (extreamly light blonde, close to platinum to a light brown with honey highlites.

Im wondering what shampoo and condition would be good for my colored hair? I was told by the salon to wash it every two days, and to try to find a very good conditioner because I blow and straighten it almost daily. Help?

I've dyed my hair about once every 6 weeks for years now and I always used Herbel Essence for dyed hair (the bottles are pink I think). When they changed the product this past year though, some of the ingredients changed, so now I use Pantene. (I'm allergic to the new ingredients, so you might not have a problem). Pantene has a color line, so you can get the brunette color to help hold your tone. You don't have to worry so much about the highlights, the sun will keep the blonde and since you are naturally blonde it shouldn't be a big problem. For conditioner, just use anything that says its for extremely dry hair or its an extra moist conditioner. If you put some conditioner in your hand, it shouldn't run off like shampoo, it should stay in a thick blob (which you can check in the store too by squeezing a little out from the top and then seeing how it slides out and back in the bottle). Right now I'm using Aussie Moist Conditioner, but I'm not sure I would recommend it, my hair is a bit dryer than normal.

Pantene has come out with "Jet Black" or something similar to John Frida's "Blonde" for black hair. I also use Tresseme's "Brown and Red hair" to keep my color from fading, perhaps they have a product for black hair. I've never gone black but I would definitely check out a Walgreens or a Target and look for these products in the shampoo section. Or, instead of buying a shampoo and conditioner, consider using a a Glaze by John Frida or Pantene, whoever you can find that makes a black glaze. You can do this once a week until it is time to dye again. As far as the suds - maybe next time you go black try a different dye or salon - it shouldn't be doing that after 2-3 days.

Wait 2-3 days before washing your hair after it has been colored, so the color can properly penetrate into your hair's pores.

As far as washing your hair. Use Pantene or Loreal's Shampoo and Conditioner for Colored Hair. Which I use every other day and my color is mainted for months...

I love Paul Mitchell products. I would get them at the beauty salon as the products they sell in the drugstore under that name are not the same quality. But his stuff is great!
