I'm considering getting that Basic DSL package..which is 14.99.

One option is to have a Service Technician visit my home and install it for $200. How hard would it be to install myself?

I currently have a 2006 Toshiba Laptop...with is wireless capable.

I've never had DSL or Cable...so can someone tell me all I need in order to obtain wireless internet?

AT&T often times sends out a "Two-Wire" modem which is actually a router that includes a wireless interface. So you might luck out and get everything you need. Get the instal kit in your hands you can set it up.

The setup guide they send with the self install kit is very easy to follow and you probably wont have any issue setting up the basic connection.
You can use the eithernet port on your Toshiba to get started (its the large 8 pin phone looking plug on the laptop). (Get it working then enable the wireless)

If you dont get a Two Wire modem you will need to get a wireless router to connect to the modem AT&T sends you. They are available many places (Office Max, Office Depot, Home Depot, Wal Mart, Sams Club, etc etc) They too come with a guide which is easy to follow. DONT CONNECT THE ROUTER UNTIL ALL YOUR INTERNET IS SETUP AND WORKING. It will make the task very easy.
