You don't, but you can look for sighns that show it is a fake. Like being unprofessional looking, or over promoting its products. Also if you look at the adress bar and see that it does not match the URL of what site you thing your on its fake. The proper term for this is phishing. IE7 also has a phising filter to protect you from this.

Scammers? On the Internet? I find that difficult to believe! Don't believe anything you see or read on the Internet. Unless you can varify that the info is valid using multiple sources then I would not trust the single source.

If yur ordering something always look for the padlock in the right hand corner of your screen, or internet explorer has a PHISHING filter yu can download to ensure its the original site..... or if your not sure, dont order.

shoddy web design, unsecure transaction page. a site that asks for money transfer before the goods are dispatched or a cheque. all suspect.

well, one way would be to check if they have their own domain name i.e. www.thebusiness.com rather than a sub domain name i.e. www.thebusiness.tripod.com
