The offers I've seen in the UK are nealy impossible to get.
Free laptop... if you complete 1 reqirement (such as take out a new credit card and spend £1000 on it or change your broadband supplier to company 'X' or something like) PLUS (and this is the real kicker) get 20 others to sign up and complete 1 requirement each.
So that's £21000 worth of credit card purchase or 21 years worth of rubbish broadband rental for a laptop? Pretty poor return... and pretty near impossible to complete.
Spend £21000 at tesco you'd get a laptop on tesco points... plus another one to keep it company.
Not seen any offer that was worth bothering with in the UK.

Yes, just like quis on TV, they want you to watch they advertisment then share small part of their interest by giving some prize.
I found that sometimes the offers comes worlwide and sometimes for one country only.
