Please write a chemical equation in this case of:

1. "Magnesium Oxide is heated"

2. "Sodium Metal reacts with water"
(Sodium does go to flame upon water contact, doesn't it?)

Many thanks.

2 Mg + O2 --> 2 MgO

2 Na + 2 H2O --> 2 NaOH + H2

The Na is not what catches on fire. The reaction occurs so quickly that the heat given off ignites the H2 gas produced. You can tell this by the lavender-colored flame. H2 burns with a lavender (light purple to pink) flame.
