I'm on the birth control pill yasmin and i just took it for my second time today. I noticed I've been breaking out in small hives, it's not that bad of an allergic reaction. I was wondering if you have to stop taking it if you break out in hives or if it'll eventually go away once your body gets used to it?

Stop taking it. Anytime you experience an allergic reaction to a medication that is a warning sign. If you are allergic to the drug, the more you take it, the worse your symptoms will become. People don't become immune to drug allergies.

Contact your doctor as soon as possible and alert them to your reaction.

You may want to take an antihistime in the meantime, something like Claritin to help with the hives until you see your doctor.

All the best,

You should read the insert that came with the pills for possible side effects. If it is just small harmless hives, you should take some Benedryl and see if they go away. The hives could be from something else (something you ate, new lotion or soap, etc.) and possibly just a coincidence that you started taking the pill. Also, if you do not have the package insert, you can try the website. I believe it is www.yasmin.com but if not just do a search. And call your doctor because there are plenty of other kinds of birth control pills you can take instead.

I would talk the gynecologist about it because it sounds like you have an allergic reaction to yasmin. Hives are a sign of an allergy, please stop and like I said please talk to your gynecologist and he/she will put you on another birth control. Take Benadryl to relieve the hives.

YES it does, don't take any kind of antibiotics without it being perscribed by a doctor, somehow the chemicals in antibiotics or pills, make the birth control ineffective.

You need to call your pharmacist and find out if the drug has this as a side effect. Also call your doctor and let him know. THey may prescribe something similar but with a dfferent carrier.
