Alcohol is metabolized in the liver by an enzyme called ethanol dehydrogenase. There are no foods which have this enzyme to boost its level in your system, but some people think that eating plenty of sugar which your liver is processing alcohol provides energy for the chemical reaction that takes place. Your kidneys excrete the by-product of this reaction, called acetylaldehyde.
