There really isn't a cure, but there are lots of different things you can try. There are always dandruff shampoos, but the things I've found that works best are these:

1. Scrub selsum blue (or another brand of dandruff shampoo) into your scalp using a course toothbrush.

2. Smother your scalp with baby oil, and let it sit for several minutes. Then take a fine tooth comb and gently scrape away the dead skin. Then shampoo your head several times to make sure to get all the oil out.

No matter what you end up doing, you'll probably have to repeat the process at least once a week.

The body is ever replaces itself, and it's this loss of skin which causes dandruff. There is no way to totally eliminate this, outside of stasis (i.e. you can't live and move without some dandruff). It is possible to reduce it through diet, and treat the scalp to eliminate most unsightly excess.

Eat what maintains a healthy radiance in the skin, and especially avoid excess which speed decay, and hence dandruff creation.

Don't use shampoos which dry, this tends to more flaking. You can use some medicated shampoos which will eliminate the loose particulates of skin before they self release, so prevent its appearing at unwanted times, if used regularly. Some of these have already been mentioned, and I have no need to replicate their answers.

Happiness, low stress, and natural food oils also help.

You can even just exfoliate with warm water, and/or oil every day, and this helps too.

I'm not aware of the effects of others answers, but some are more than plausible, so try any, and all to your liking, until you are happy with the results. It may be that different things at different times, so that nothing is overdone, is what works for you.

I remember my dad was suffering from a very bad dandruff. Its very bad and often in a form of flakes. I wouldnt call it a treatment cause my mum discovered it by a mistake. What she did was she applied henna on his scalp and presto no more dandruff till now and that was about 5 years ago. Try it I hope it works with you too. All the best.

shampoos and conditioners provides only temporary relief.
last studies showed that the dandruff is a reaction of the body to type of bacteria that is found in the stomach!!
this bacteria is known as H. pylori, and it usually causes peptic ulcer (the presence of this bacteria in your stomach does not mean you should have the symptoms of peptic ulcer), but they found that it has very strong association with dandruff.
to confirm that you have this bacteria you have to do a blood test called (ELISA for H. Pylori), if it is positive you need to take some oral medication for maximum one month to eradicate this bacteria from your stomach, and say good bye to dandruff.

Onions are high in sulfur. Cut a fresh onion in half and rub it on the scalp, I know it looks strange. Wash your hair once a week with a sulfur based soap. Avoid hair products that contain alcohol which dries out the scalp. Also avoid hair dryers which will also dry the scalp and add to the problem.
