I am planning a trip next year to WDW and I am looking into the Dining Meal plan, Anyone used this and found it worthwhile? I will be travelling with an 8 yr and 10 yr old, I'm not sure that the table service dinners are the right option for us, Im afraid kids wont have suitable menu choices, Im worried about making reservations and keeping them, and the time involved? Any input appreciated

I recently went on a trip to WDW with my mother and 5 year old daughter. We did have the "magic your way package plus dining" and it was a pretty good idea. You will probably need a little extra money in case you need more than 2 actual meals per day, (the third one in your plan is a "snack", ex: ice cream, pop, bottled water). All in all, when you do use your meals, go do a character dining (SO much fun!!) or a nice restaraunt. If you were to pay out of pocket for those it would be pretty expensive... I think it is a good idea, because you would probably end up spending hundreds of dollars otherwise. As for the choices on the menu for kids, all the sit down places had great choices but the "fast food" places have mostly mac and cheese or pb&j not too much variety... Don't worry about making your reservations, I was late for a Chef Mickey breakfast and all i did was call the let them know, they were really nice and let us show up late. Oh, if you are looking at staying at a resort, the "preffered" room is not really worth the extra money, yeah you are a little closer to the lobby, but next time i'll just stay in a standard room. Make sure you ask the hotel if the pool is open... when we went, the pool was under construction and they never told us until we got there, quite dissapointing. Anyway, good luck and you will have a blast!! I also don't reccomend the park hopper option because you are going to want to spend the whole day at each park, trust me, you won't be running back and forth between parks!! lol..... Get the magical express airline transportation..they take care of your luggage to and from the airport and also give you a ride to and from the airport... VERY worth it!! Hope this all helps!! Good Luck and Have Lotsa Fun!!!

I used the Disney Dining Plan last year and it was great! It saved us a lot of money and it was totally the way to go if you are looking to save some money. The only problem with the plan is that you are only allowed a certain amount of food a day. But it is adequate enough to get you through the day without over eating. You should not have to worry about it with small kids because everything Disney is based around kids so you should not have a problem! Almost all the restaurants have kids menu's and they can eat off the adult menu as well if they prefer what is on that. You can cancel anything in your reservation a month before the time you are going. Then they get a little more strict. You could always choose the Disney dining plan and if you decide you do not want it you could cancel it! You could do the opposite of that too. Hope this helps you will have a great time on you trip!!!

The dining plan is an excellent way to save money and still have dozens of options to choose from! And table service meals always have a terrific kids menu - especially the all-you-can-eat buffets. For example, adults (and adventurous kids) can enjoy creative cuisine at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Boma - Flavors of Africa. They also offer American fare for picky eaters! So there is truly something for everyone at Disney World.
And you can always trade in your sit down meal for a fun character meal your kids are sure to enjoy.
The great thing about most Disney reservations is that if you break them, there is no penalty. Only specialty meals (like the Polynesian Resort's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show) require a credit card to make the reservation and there is a fee if you are a no show. Every other location waits about 30 minutes and then gives your table away, so there is no worries to changing your plans.

I have used it for the past 2 years. It is wonderful. Make sure you make your dining reservations for your table service meals well in advance.

On both trips we made sure we did at least one character meal. The cost of that alone would have been almost $30.00 each, so add in a counter service meal and a snack. It's paid for itself.

Dinner bill for 2 of us (my 25 year old son & myself) came to over $100.00! I definitely wouldn't have eaten there otherwise!

One thing that we did was to save our snacks. Then we would purchase a fruit bowl at the food court for breakfast. This counted as a snack, but we basically ended up getting 3 meals from our plan. (The fruit bowl also cost more than say an ice cream in the park). When we wanted snacks, we would purchase the less expensive ones with cash and use the dining plan for the pricier items.

Have a great trip!
