Ok so is it reffering to a yellow background bikini with different colored polka dots, or a different background color bikini with yellow polka dots?

usu. its yellow with pink or red polka dots like in the yoplait yogurt commercial, so I think the backgrounds yellow

I hate to admit this...I remember this song when it first aired waaaaaay back in the early 60's. I believe it was a white background with yellow polka dots. Interesting question!
