in the 1920's when the flappers cut their hair..
it was called " bobbing your hair" ( cutting your hair)
bobbie pins were invented back then to control hair that had been bobbed ( cut).

Because a girl named Bobby got her hair chopped short a long time ago. Her dad was a hairdresser and invented Bobby pins to help keep the wispy pieces back while her bob grew out.

These are all wrong.. I knwo this, A man and his wife (named bobby) were golfing and it was windy so her hair kepy getting into her eyes and face so she couldnt golf. He found a peice of metal on the ground bent it, stuck it in her hair, then it was called eh bobby pin.
