Washing it often will dry it if you already have dry scalp, wash it like every 3 days so your scalp has a chance to produce oils. Use dandruff shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, a leave- in conditioner. I use an oil I leave in called Botanical oil by Nexxus (it's a combination of oils) and I think it would moisturize your scalp. You could put treatments in. Does your scalp itch, especially when you get hot? I used to have that problem and I found I think it was a shampoo in the section of shampoos where they have the medicinal ones, but I can't remember the name right now- it was like 8 dollars, it was brown- they don't have that many different ones.

I am right there with ya. I use any shampoo or conditioner with tea tree oil by Paul Mitchell, which really puts the moisture back in your scalp. Also there is a shampoo called Nizoral which works great, it controls the itching too. You can get it at walmart. A small bottle is about 9.00 but its the only thing that works for me in the winter. Also, if you wash your hair too much it can make it worse.

first of all lots of people think they have dry scalp but most of the time it's the gel or hair product they're using. so u should check that first. and like others have said if u shampoo too much it will dry u scalp out. i recommend the leave in conditioner from american crew. it works really well on dry scalp. i have clients that put it on their bald head. and it smells good too!

Stop shampooing!!! You're probably using shampoo too often. You're really supposed to only shampoo every couple of days. Unless you have oily hair of course. My mom used to have a very dry scalp. She just worked baby oil in her hair and scalp and left it in overnight. In the morning just wash it out. I've done this also, and I've never had dandruff in my life.

I have found out that using Neutragena T-gel shampoo helps. My scalp started to flake after i used a volumizing shampoo. So i stopped! Another tip that helps the scalp is to use a seperate conditioner. After scrubbing your hair and you hear it squeak that is when you can tell it is truley clean, you use conditioner, put the bulk of it on the ends and what little you have left goes closer to your scalp.

rather than using hair products, there are some simple methods that can help you...
- drink lots of water... drinking 1.5 to 2 litres of water a day not only helps your hair, but also for your skin
- hot oil treatment. warm oil and massage it into the hair. massaging also helps improve the blood circulation in ur head, thereby improving the natural oil generation which wil help your hair. after massaging, dip a towel in hot water, wring it and cover your hair including the scalp.
hair products like conditioner might help your hair, but might not help your scalp dryness problem
try these for a couple of weeks. guaranteed to giv good results

If you have dandruff use a shampoo called Nizoral every three days and condition it with nioxin. It is expensive but is very effective. I had the same problem. Once it is gone use it about once a week and use other types of cheap dandruff shampoo. Two or three to transition between using the Nizoral.
