Neither. In waves, particles do not move, they oscillate. Transverse waves do not even need matter through which to propagate.
However, the answer that you probably want is perpendicular to the direction of travel.

i believe you answered your own question. You had that magical word "Transverse" so perp to the dirction of travel

maybe be in trasver wave is dividual particles of the medium is the paritcles of ocean waves my answer is move in cercles that`s my answer.
