the Caro syrup trick works as listed above but if it ets bad try stimulating his anus with a thermometer with vasoline on the tip it will cause the baby to push and usually works well, just be careful...you may try low iron formula if this keeps on goin.....constipation is usually due to too much iron when it comes to infants......Dark Caro syrup is what my doctor said to the dumb *** below and honey is bad due to the severe allergy it may cause but caro syrup is perfectly fine, and no there is no label on it that says do not give to infants just on honey!!!!

My pediatrician told me that they don't consider it constipation until 7 days have passed without a movement. I wanted to give my infant something for it too. Try rubbing the baby's tummy in counterclockwise motions (as you see it looking at the baby). This may help a little. The baby's intestines are developing bacteria, which causes gas and constipation also.

My son did an analogous element, yet his poop got here out comfortable and on a daily basis or 2. His record stated pink face and loud grunting is in simple terms the infant's structures going so as on an analogous time as he learns to flow. If he's getting the poop out and this is not dry and difficult, and he isn't crying in soreness, it somewhat is going to be ok. My son's 9 wks now and has worked in the process the terrible grunting and is going like a champ.

True constipation is almost unheard of at that age unless you've been foolish enough to feed him cereal too soon. Until they are about 3 months old, babies have no control over the muscles in their rectums and tend to "hold it" and then explode! That's normal, however, if you feel your baby is in distress and his abdomen is distended and painful to the touch, seek immediate help. A hernia or other intestinal blockage may be present which could be very serious if not treated.

I would speak to your doctor. Is he taking a lot of iron? Too much Iron can cause constipation , when my son was born he was on formula with Iron in it and on this liquid vitamin like medicine with iron so he ended up getting constipated but we took him off the liquid stuff and he was totally fine.

When my son was constipated his doctor said to take a cue tip with vasaline on the tip and stick it gentley into his rectum a little bit and it worked right away..

If your son is just say on formula with iron then perhaps you should switch to formula without iron, some babies just can not handle iron.

Best thing would be to take him to the Dr. You never no if its more serious . Sometimes they use to say to give sugar water . He's to young for just anything . The Dr. is your best bet . Or call them and explained , but they will probaly want to see him .
Dont just take anyone's advice , your talking about a 3 week old baby. That in itself is a concern . See a Dr.

I know this stinks but nothing. We had this problem when our baby was that old. Mylcon drops are the only thing that would be safe to use. Try also, a warm cloth on his belly will feel good. Call you doctor's office on Monday, they will give you good advice. Are you breastfeeding? This can also cause constipation, breastfed babies can go days without a bowel movement. If he becomes bloated call your doctor as well. It will pass!! Good luck!

Since he is so young, I'd check with a doctor. Or try offering him some water, perhaps that could help. I don't think I'd try anything else since he is so little w/o the advice of a doctor.

check with your pediatrician and try giving him a little water in a bottle. By no means do what the blondie above suggested with the Karo syrup, babies should never be given honey or Karo syrup. It is even printed on the bottles.
