I was singing at one funeral when the son of the deceased threw himself onto the casket, sobbing.

If Christians believe in an afterlife, why would they grieve any more than seeing a loved one go on vacation? Why are they so poorly comforted by their faith?

Because even though we know the person is in heaven we know it will be a long time before we see them again & that breaks our hearts.

That's a horrible thing to say about somebody going through the grieving process. Why can't a Christian cry over the loss of their loved one? Should they smile? Should they gather after the funeral and laugh and sing? I haven't experienced the loss of anybody yet and I know that I will cry a river when it happens

If you lost a loved one wouldn't you cry too. This is a natural human emotion that is felt not just in christians but any human being. Some people are more emotional than others and cry more. I have known christians who have a hard time finding feelings that never cry at funerals. Don't just sterotype christians, many faiths cry when a loved one is dead.

How do you feel or would you feel if your parents or brothers and sisters or close friends die. Even if we know they go to heaven...we still miss having them with us...a lot.

By the time I was 13 I had lost ALL my grandparents...I am 52...their vacation should be over a long time ago. I miss them terribly even after all this time.

It does comfort me to know that someone I love is well and whole again and with Jesus in heaven...but that does not take away all the pain of losing someone you love until such time as you can be reunited.

Two reasons...death is called the enemy (1 Cor 15:26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.) After all it was the punishment for disobedience. Second reason, related to the first...we were created to live forever. (Eccl 3:11) So no matter how many times it affects us, and even knowing we have the hope of a resurrection...it is still very painful. Every time.

Maybe it's a sign of how much they loved that person and the thought of being without them even for a day is very sad. If they both know/knew Jesus then of course they'll see them again. A Christian's grief doesn't reflect the reality of salvation in Christ. Christians having feelings too and shouldn't be condemned for them! Jesus cried convulsively at Lazarus's tomb before He brought him back to life. Had you been there would you have condemned Him for it?

for an analogous reason each and every physique cries at a funeral. They omit the guy it particularly is long previous and particular have regrets approximately some dealing that they had with the deceased. Why do you purpose Christians? The Christian faith isn't the only one that delivers an afterlife.

Why is this same question asked over and over? Christians are people who have feelings and miss their loved ones. My husband (before we were married) went away to college for a year. I cried when he left. If he died, chances are I'd be longer without him. Even Jesus wept when a friend died.

why would you ask this of just Christians? All faiths go through grief at the death of a loved one. It's an emotion that eveyone experiences regardless of the strength of their faith.

I'm sorry. I am a bit confused. If you lost someone very dear to you would you weep? Would you miss that person? Keep in mind that everyone doesn't go to heaven. I am a Christian, and I have family members that are lost and going to hell. Pray for them. God Bless,
