I found this article. Papaya is something I've been avoiding, but since you are trying to promote the onset of labour you could give it a try.
Papaya: Avoid during pregnancy
If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, avoid eating papaya or using a papaya product. Papaya is sometimes recommended for soothing indigestion, which is a common ailment during pregnancy. Although a fully ripe papaya is not considered dangerous, a papaya that is at all unripe contains a latex substance that triggers uterine contractions and may cause a miscarriage. 1
The papaya enzyme that helps soothe indigestion is called papain, or vegetable pepsin. Papain is found in the fruit's latex and leaves. 1 Researchers have noted that unripe papaya latex acts like prostaglandin and oxytocin, which the body makes to start labor. 2 Synthetic prostaglandin and oxytocin are commonly used to start or strengthen labor contractions.

I was 42 weeks pregnant and they induced labor. It was horrible labor, and my son ended up being in the hospital in NICU for 7 days because of a dry birth.(They popped my water bag too early.) If you want real labor and not false labor it just has to happen by it self. Too much walking can stress the baby because you are pushing your body to go into labor when not ready to. It's better not to induce, and if I had to do it again I would opt for a C-Section before inducing. I went into labor for my second son and everything was 100% faster and easier.

Don't take castor oil...That doesn't help..It will just make you sick..Usually the only reason castor oil works is because your water was about to break anyways, and because you were puking your guts out you forced yourself to bear down and break your water...
As far as anything else, try walking, but don't walk too far, and be sure to elevate your feet when you get back home. Working on you nipples this can release hormones that are linked to contractions that will thin out your cervix. Again..The sex really can work, but at 41 weeks I wouldn't blame you for not wanting that lol...Ask your doctor if he will strip your membranes, that is not technically an inducement...

walking helps, chamomile can help start contractions. I was told that sex helps, but then read an article that said sex can actually delay labour starting in atleast 50% of women. I have also heard that nipple stimulation causes the body to naturally start producing a hormone necessary to labour. Just make sure that your dr is in on your choices so they know what they are dealing with if you happen to start in labour and go really quickly.
I went to 41.5 weeks with my son and had to be induced. The started on the monday night with the gel, sent me home where I didn't sleep a wink because of anxeity and contractions. They all stayed in my back and caused pain and noe lasting damage. I went back tuesday morning to be checked and was given more gel and sent home. I ate lunch and counted contractions, they stopped both times I went to the hospital as soon as I walked in the door. I went back to the hospital with contractions less than 1 min apart at 6pm tuesday and it still took more inducing and breaking my water for him to finally come out just after 3am wednesday morning.
If you are going walking somewhere, try walking either with someone or walk at a mall, that way if you go into labour and need help someone can quickly call for help or an ambulance if need be. Just don't walk alone somewhere.
Just make sure that you are sure what you are doing is safe before you try it. You don't want to unintentionally harm yourself or your baby by trying something you aren't sure of.
Good luck, it will be nice to finally get your body back to yourself again, trust me.

CASTROL OIL didn't make me go into labor either time and isn't safe for you or your baby. I walked and walked and walked some more. I think I did close to 8 miles with my second son to go into labor. Also if you get dehydrated you will go into labor. Ask your doctor to strip your membranes.

I can tell you I was at 40 weeks and they were gonna enduce me. My last doctors appointment was jan 23 and my due date was jan 24th. They planned to enduce me jan 29th. I walked a lot during my pregnancy also did used the birthing ball for exercises. I heard that a lot of walking helps. Funny thing is that on the 24th i got a call saying that i was approved to be enduced. I really didn't want to go that route. I wanted him to come sooo bad with out me going through more pain that i had to. I walked that day and about 5pm i went into labor... So I can say by experience I think walking helps alot!!! So Walk alot!! =)

There's also nipple stimulation, but for this to work, it takes several hours of stimulation. Some people use a breast pump for this.
Induction of labor with Pitocin and other chemicals causes more painful labor and is more likely to lead to a c-section.

Activity can bring on labor, just keep busy as much as you can... I know at 41 weeks you're probably exhausted. Good luck!
