It is a concept that was invented to spread dissension between men and women. It is annoying for men to hear this nonsense. And it implies that women are so helpless, that they need men to change their actions and attitudes to allow women to catch up.

The fact of the matter is, men and women are different. There are some things that men can do better, and some things women have the advantage. What is so difficult about that?

It is when a man believes himself to be more elite (intellegient, entitled, better than) woman. They treat women like pawns or arm candy and then give them no regard.

Yes it happens alot. It attacks a woman's self esteem and can be tragic, however, many women allow themselves to be treated that way, and that to me is the real shame. Sometimes it is only perceived but often it is a reality.

Just as chauvinism should not be tolerated, neither should the "princess" mentality. Address both extremes. Women should not treat men as their underlings either. High maintenance women need to maintain themselves.

Chauvinism is prejudice towards women from men. It really exists in some people. Women don't just feel things arbitrarily, there is usually a REASON for those feelings.
Usually, chauvinists, like any other bigots, are people who like to see others suffer to make themselves feel better..
Watch reruns of "All in the Family" Archie Bunker...he hated everyone.

It's really there. A few years ago, a manager actually came over to my cube and told me it's God's will that women work at home. I was stunned, I couldn't believe people still thought like that in this day and age.

And now and then on chat boards you get some doofus bagging on women and acting like he has some business saying what we can and can't do... so yeah it's still out there. Not nearly as bad as it used to be, but there.

MY husband considers me his equal partner, you can be certain of that!
