Is there a simple way in VB.NET to basically trim the first 6 and the last 6 characters of a string?

I have tried to figure out the Mid and Trim functions but cannot figure this one out! Just need to know if there is a simple (or semi-simple) way of doing this! Please help, I have a university project to hand in next friday and this (not being a requirement) is a very important part of one of my ideas for a requirement!

mid(thestring,7, len(thestring)-6)

'(Start wih the 7th character, finish 6 from the end.)

stringInstance.Substring(0,stringInstance.Length-6).Substring(6)
