Well I installed it finding out that it doesn't do real-time protection like I thought it did. Then I figured that was because I was downloading it from download.com so I went to Lavasoft's website to download it from there then it led it back to download.com. I got spybot search and destroy now but am finding Ad-aware Personal SE to be better. While spybot found maybe 20 items, Adware Personal SE found at least 100 or more! Does anyone know where I can get Ad-aware PErsonal SE as freeware or something close to that? I'm hoping to find the best anti-spyware around that can find hundreds of items and do real-time protection.

Some answers I'm getting said that it is a freeware (Ad-ware Personal SE) but it doesn't provide real-time protection as download.com stated. Are you saying that it is free but doesn't have real-time protection? I'm looking for something that also provide real-time protection as well as something that would find many items if not all spywares.

Yes, Ad-aware Personal SE is a freeware. You can download it from www.lavasoftusa.com/index.php( it's original website) or www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html.

You will be hard pressed to find one application that detects 100% of Spyware. None of them do. The results you state you got from the 2 applications is common, same with anti-virus software. I don't understand your question about Ad-aware Personal SE and downloading the free version? Ad-aware Personal SE is freeware and you already have it...

Go to Cnet.com where you can sign up for a free account. They offer a lot of freeware (including Ad-aware), and many items that you can download on a trial basis. They are very good!

The only freeware that has a spy-ware shield is avg but it is trial, you have to pay to keep shield active.
