How do you get a battery cable off that has the wrong nut holding it on & it's stripped? We've tried pliers & no one's strong enough to get it off so how do u unhook it from the other end of the cable & will anything else b screwed up if we do it that way?

try vise grips. or chisel it off. you could go to the other end but then youll have to replace that cable. better to work on the nut. also try some penetrating oil like wd40 for a few hours before you try again.

Vise grip pliers would help but you should use a battery post cable puller to make the job easier. These can be purchased from an auto parts store (Auto Zone, Advance, Pep Boys, etc). When working around the battery DO NOT allow any metal to spark the positive post like touching the negative post accidentally. It would be best to disconnect the negative cable be fore starting your repair. Never use a chisel to cut any connections off at the battery or we could be having an early July 4th.
PS: wash hands to remove battery acid. Do not rub your hands on your clothes.

positive or negative cable? Piece of cake just follow the cable done to where it bolts to the engine and unbolt it there then you can undo the positive side and take the battery out cable and all if the treads are stripped i am guessing you are going to replace the battery anyway you will just have to get a new ground cable just make sure you get the same size Cable to replace it

Your best bet is to disconnect the black cable that runs from the battery to the frame at the frame. Replace it with an equal sized cable from your parts store. The cable size MUST be the same or you will have problems starting the car. Install the cable, then your new battery, red + cable first then your new black cable - last. Good luck.

The best way will be to hacksaw it off between the nut and the terminal. Then get a new bolt and nut available at any automotive supply shop.
Taking off the other end of the cable won't hurt anything, but it will enable you to remove the battery which will make it easier to cut the bad nut off.

try vice grips to get it off and yes you can take it off from the engine, more than likely you will need a new negative cable anyway and it won't hurt a thing doing it that way.

Sometimes you can slip a screwdriver between the cable and the terminal to pry it open. Just be careful not to cross the + and -. Big sparks! Good luck.
