I can remember my grandmother mentioning using cream rinse. Is this simply a term or is it a different product? Is it similar to saying ice box or freezer? Is it simply a dated product?
Thank you so much!!!!

they are one and the same...creme rinse just removed tangles and made you hair slippier when wet so it was easier to come through.Conditioners..have different strengths and coat your hair to soften it..but they all work the same..they alter the surface of your hair during the wet phase

Creme Rinse

They don't really make "Creme Rinse" anymore it was a lotion that you mixed with warm water (1/2 oz. to 1 cup water) and poured through your hair to get rid of tangles after you rinsed out the shampoo. It detangled , softened and reduced static and 'Fly-Away' hair. You usually rinsed it out but some were Leave-In or Spray-On / Leave-In. Conditioners perform the same function as well as adding strength and moisturizing and/or repairing damage.

I don't think that there is a difference; it's just whatever name markets the product the best. Both of these aren't to be confused with a protein treatment pack (aka deep weekly treatment or protein reconstructor), which nourishes the hair once a week, and is applied before the final conditioning rinse.

A cream rinse is only for detangling and conditioners have different/added benefits depending on the ingredients each condtioner has (frizz fighting ingredients, moisturizing, volumizing and even damage control)

Old folks call it cream rinse....Nowadays we all just say conditioner. Some products do refer to it as cream rinse but on the labels but if you read it, it's one in the same.

I remember my mother calling it cream rinse also. I think it's the same as conditioner.
