If you spent some time in a sauna / steam room and then found out afterwards that you were pregnant; is there any chance that you could do damage to the baby. I mean like 15 - 20 minutes in the sauna / steam room.

Just curious... wondering if it would be a problem!

I am late (period should have been around the 11th or 12th of Feb, but didn't appear). Have taken 2 HPT's - both negative. Am going to test again in a week's time and see... otherwise I'll go to the GYN.

AS long as it was during the first part of your pregnancy you probably did no harm. That is just like people who smoked or drank and then found out they were prenant. The doctor will tell you, not to worry, just don't do it again. It seems like the fetus can withsatnd quite a bit those first few weeks. Nature probably made it that way just for resons like this. Just to make yourself feel better, just mention it to your doctor. I wouldn't worry about it though.

Saunas and steam rooms dont actually do damage to a baby when your only that far along but you are at higher riisk for a miscarriage. But you should mostly be out of the clear once you hear the babys heartbeat.

Using a Sauna is something that Dr.'s will tell you not to do during pregnancy. High body temps have been proven to cause birth defects. but i really think that is just for frequent usage. one time shouldnt be bad, especially very early in the first trimester. So no worries!

Congrats!

depends....how pregnant are you? how far along?

saunas/steam rooms. tanning beds and hot tubs all increase the body's core temperature, which can overheat the baby
