babelfish.com

Cut and paste into bablefish after selecting the translate FROM GERMAN TO ENGLISH.

It will roughly translate it and you should be able to get the general gist of what they are trying to say.

You could also send him a nice note back in German by reversing the process. It may not be exactly right but I am sure he will appreciate what you are doing!

makes no sense.
tell them you don't know German. I also wonder how you became friends if you apparently can't communicate. Surely if they were a friend they would know you didn't speak German by now?

Otherwise just go to babel fish or something but it doesn't translate it well so be careful if you use it to reply lol

machine translaters are available via the internet. I use babbelfish altavista.com. for several languages. It doesn't come out perfect ('cos it's a machine ) , but you can usually get the drift of it. Try other sites, they may differ slightly in translation, but they are all more or less the same.

How do you have a friend in Germany that you can't communicate with? Anyways you can go to worldlingo.com and copy and paste the text in there. It will give you a rough idea of what your friend is saying. You can also do it in the reverse if you want to write something back and then copy and paste it in your email.

Why is your friend communicating to you in German? Does he not know you speak English?

You could try babel fish though alta vista, but these programmes are not fool proof.

Try Babelfish:

Otherwise you could post it on Yahoo Answers and get human translation if your email is short.
