Your going to want to put on lean weight, especially if it's for a sport, football for example. To gain weight, your going to have to bust yourself in the weightroom, as well as eat a high protein diet. Turkey and Chicken are two great foods that can help. Supplements may also prove to be beneficial for you in addition to the diet, not as meal replacements. Whey protein is a great asset, and creatine may also be beneficial to you as well...IN my expierience, a supplement called Muscle Milk has proven to help out greatly. It is more high in fat and calories, but the fat is an engineered fat meant to be burned and not stored. It also contains a high dosage of protein, and tastes great with water(which is uncommon with most supplements). So It is going to take some work in the gym on your part, but goin at it hard, putting on weight isn't too hard. I went from around 150 to 175 over a summer of eating like this and religious lifting.....Good luck.

Weight training helps a person build muscles and increase body weight. Proteins are required for building muscles, so having high protein food like eggs, milk, peanut butter, protein shakes will help you in gaining weight. I presume you are not talking about getting fat. If you are it is a matter of eating more. Building muscle mass requires few reps of heavy weights.
