It all depends on the species of fish. Some fish can not be sexed. A majority of fish found in stores are male as they are more vibrant in color. Females are usually boring or can even be ugly and unattractive. Feel free to email me or instant message me for more information on this and to tell me what kind of fish you have and I will do my best to help.

Each fish is different. Most fish, the male is the more colorful. In livebearers, swordtails, guppies... males are smaller and more colorful and have an extended ray on their bottom fin.
In cichilids most of the time the male is larger and more colorful.
In tetras and catfish, only they know themselves.
