Before you can do a restore you should defrag the hard drive, the reason it cant complete the restore is because the files are not in order.

The best way to run restore is in safe mode, reboot, hitting F8 while booting, start in safe mode. When windows starts it will ask if you want to run windows in safe mode, if not hit ...... "whatever button it tells you to"......to do a system restore.

1. Only highlighted dates in system restore may be restored not the date you want. may?
2. If you go in detail than only you can short out your problem.
3. Download Klite Codec Pack & install & play your avi.
4. If this does not work than try either to clean virouses & spy wares or rt click on avi file & select chose with WMP.
Last but not least if you don't a highlited date than virous or deleted driver may be your problem. Please check whether system monitoring by system restore is on or not? If not than onn it. Most probably you will have to format your HDD if above mentioned process does not work.

if your system hasn't made any restore points recently, there won't be anywhere for your computer to go back to. try searching through the calendar for points. it will usually tell you when one has been made. if you don't want to go back that far, try reinstalling wmp and windows movie maker. or you might need some updates for those programs. good luck!

shut down,

then turn it back on just start tapping f-5 until you see a choice. if not try f-11 for recovery, f- 8 is safe mode ,
and then click on
The last best setting before you added the movie maker.
