My mom accidently deleted paint, caculator, and games (solitaire, freecell, pinball, ect) off my computer. I REALLY miss them... is there a place I can go to download them for free, or a way I can transfer them from another computer? I've tried looking everywhere, including microsoft's webpage, but got nothing. I tried copying them to a flashdrive, but once I pasted it, all it turned out to be was the icon and wouldn't open. I would really like to get back the everything (games, calculator and paint) if possible.

Go to your Add/Remove Programs, on the left you'll see Add Windows Components.
Wait for it to come up, then look under accessories in the list and you can re-install the programs.
As long as you have the cab files on your machine you don't need the cd, if you don't have the cab files, you need the disk to do this.

the best thing to do is....
You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

Do you still have the XP install CD? If so, you may be able to install off of there. You can also try Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and select Windows Components and see if they are options there.

If she deleted these from the start menu, then they are still there. They reside in the system32 folder, my computer --- C drive ---- windows ---- system32

sol.exe = solitaire
pinball.exe = pinball
mspaint.exe = paint
calc.exe = calculator

when you find them, right click on them and click "pin to start menu"

Are you sure she deleted them? She might just have deleted their icons.

Click Start | Run, and in the dialog type MSPAINT and then press enter. Does it come up?

Chances are she just killed the icons, not the apps themselves.
