My new macromedia flash player wont work. Why is this?

I've downloaded this loads of times and it doesn't work

I used the uninstaller from their website at

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

You should then be able to install Adobe Flash Player 9
