Adobe Photoshop 5.0 software was released on 11th May, 1998. I think this the most accurate source for the release date I could find.

So it's almost now 8 years and up. And this May they will celebrate their 9th year anniversary.
Can't actually beleive that Adobe has spent 24 years surviving in Imaging Industry. Founded in 1982. Probably older than Microsoft which was founded in 1985.

Yeah, CS5 is really good for such tasks, so all you need to know is if the computer she uses fulfills the system requirements of Adobe Photoshop CS5. If not, then you could resort to buying an older but still powerful version like CS3.
