To start out with, soups, jello, and pudding are all good things to eat. After a couple days, your teeth will become less tender and pasta won't seem too bad anymore. Eating anything after the first 4 hours of having braces seems almost impossible, but by the end of the week you should be good to go with just about anything.

Do be careful with crispy and gummy foods though. This rule applies for the whole duration of having braces. I knocked brackets off with, not over cooked, but crispy french fries, and I also knocked a bracket off on crispy thin crust pizza. Raw vegitables are pretty tough to eat too, and gummy things like juju fruits and dots can pull brackets off. My orthodontist always told me that breaking stuff loose could delay progress. Just be careful with what you eat.

Your teeth will be sore for a few days at least. Take some Tylenol or Ibuprofin and tough it out for a little while.
What you can eat at first: soft foods. potatoes, sandwiches, etc.
After the pain is over, you can eat practically anything except:
Jolly Ranchers, other hard candies, some gums can stick inside the braces and is really hard to get rid of. Shredded Wheat (just kidding, but some things are a pain to get out of braces).
Just think, if I bit just right, could this bend a wire or pop off a bracket? If you had to think about it, the answer to eat it is probably no.

Braces will hurt for the next couple of weeks. Just think of how beautiful your teeth will look after it's all over with. That's the only thought that keeps me from riping mine off. I have braces, and I have only had them for two weeks and one day. I am already used to them. For the first week you want be able to eat any real food. Try eating pudding, yogurt, apple sauce, soup, and other soft things. If you are like me and like to eat a bunch of snacks, but don't have the time to brush your teeth after each little snack try using a water pick. It helps a lot! Oh Yea! Use a bunch of wax your first couple of days, so that your brackets don't rub sores on the inside of your lips, and take an over the counter pain killer for teeth soreness. I hope I was of some help.Good Luck!

Unfortunately you will have to eat soup and soft food for a while
until you get used to the braces. Do not eat taffy candy or
anything like that. You will have to clean your braces practically
every time after you eat. You could still eat sandwiches but
not on hard bread. (Soup, jello, rice, pasta, baked potato, ice
cream, pudding, mashed potatoes might be good, with steamed
vegetables, you could try a hamburger but you might have to cut it up. Good luck!

I feel your pain. For the first few days, have yogurt, milkshakes, and soup. After a while, the pain will go away, or at least until they get tightened.

Just don't eat nuts, or any other hard food, or you will break your brackets off.

They shouldn't hurt in a few days. The place that put them on should have told you what not to eat. Do not eat corn on the cob, sticky candy, popcorn, nuts etc. Those kind of things can damage the braces.

Take extra stength tylenol. try anything once, the exception is carmel. And don't worry when you go backt hey'll just fix the brackette you broke right up. So rule1) try anyting once. 2) absolutely NO carmel. 3) don'r worry

dude dont worry...when i first got my braces for the first week it was as painful as..iono....it was just really sensitive and that stuff...but after that week you will be able to eat regular food...make sure not to eat or drink: soda, gum, anything hard or tangy....such as gummy bears or potato chips....but if you are craving those things then just be really really careful...
