This morning, I was just starting to brush my teeth and moved the toothbrush over my front teeh. I jumped with pain--1 of my top front teeth is really sensitive and hurt like crazy to brush. It was fine yesterday, and has never happened before. What gives??

Chances are you brushed over an area where the root of the tooth is exposed near the gumline. These areas can cause extreme sensitivity and sometimes it can come and go. I would recommend Sensodyne toothpaste to help with the sensitivity. It will take up to a couple weeks to help.

Do you by chance grind or clench your teeth in your sleep? Excessive force causes trauma to the tooth especially at the gumline. This could be why you noticed it in the morning.

Hope that helps

Contact your dentist and purchase some sensitive toothpaste. I really like the Sensodyne...it's really effective. Also, your dentist may have some with more powerful stuff that will make your teeth feel better.

take two ibuprofen and the pain should subside today. Do not drink anything hot or cold for 24 hours, only beverages and food around room temperature will do. If it keeps on feeling that way, you should see a dentist of course.
