it says the video coud not be imported,the required codec was not downloaded automatically because the download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the options dialog box.i dont get what its saying.

Go to Windows Media Player options and check the box that says download codec's automatically. It's under Tools>Options>Player

A codec is a COder/DECoder. It is what allows your PC to import movies. The one most often missing the latest version of the AVI format. Go to http://divx.com and you can download the current divx codec for free. (Even those it has "x" in its title, divx is not a porn related site.) You do not need to download the divx player or the internet player to get the codec.
