On the reasons for using PDF is create a file is that the resulting file can not be edited. It keeps people from being able to change your document (such as a book, instructions, legal document, etc) Unfortunately it also means that you can not fill out a form created in PDF unless the creator included special editable fields.
A PDF file is not actually text, though it looks like it. Rather it is a "picture" of the document. So it can not be typed in or changed.

You cannot type in a PDF file unless you convert it to a text file. There are two ways I know of to accomplish this.
1. You would need a PDF Converter. You can get a trial version at www.docsmartz.com or you can buy the previous version of PDF Converter for $22 at the link below. (PDF Converter 4 is out now). I have Ver 3 and have no problem with it.

or
2. if you have a scanner or all-in-one printer, you can scan it as OCR (optical character recognition). The scanned document will open in Word. You have to proofread because if the document scanned is not absolutely clear, there may be an off-character someplace. No biggee.
After you scan it, save it to a new name or it will overwrite the PDF file.
