Can I set up my flash drive so that my computer won't boot without it plugged in or so that I can only access certain things without it?

You could but a special software on the USB has to program the computer to do it.

hi,

you can do that by installing operating system in that usb and making hard drive to store only data.

In the bios setup you have to make the changes as first boot device as USB.

I know there is a way, I would like to know too, so i'll check back to see if anyone knows how to go about doing that.

Not unless your super geek and in which case you probably wouldnt be asking, anything can be done with enough modification.
