I've seen a lot of people asking for places to download software for free (thus, illegally). I know my thoughts on this, but what do you think? Is it okay to download software like Photoshop that costs a few hundred dollars?
I know the downloading scene has been around for a long time, and I'm no stranger to it. but i wanted to see what the general public thought about it (or at least Y!Ans.)

If you use photoshop professionally you should definately pay for it. Adobe does have cheaper version for student/teacher use. I do use unofficial versions of software if I can't afford it at that time or if I only need to use it for a short time and there isn't an OpenSource application that performs in a similar fashion.
In short, I think that if you benefit financially from a program you should pay, but if you just use it for personal non-profit stuff you shouldn't.
I also feel that by not allowing free use of software we put people who are not financially well to do at a disadvantage as far as being able to better their position financially. Allow everyone pro-rated access based on their specific financial situation and as they better their financial situation then their would be an increase in what they pay for software or whatever.
Money is a concept used to control people. It behooves me that our society is controlled not by things with true value but by money which really has no value and can be manipulated by people who don't really provide a service or product with any real value.
Money, so they say, is the root of all evil..today.

There is an amazing amount of Charityware, freeware, opensource and demoware out there. I don't find any downloads of copyprotected material worthwhile. It usually has no support, is obsolete or has nasty bugs and spyware embedded in it.
By the time you go through cleaning your system or maintaining the software you are money ahead to buy it. Op[en source is so much better. My next machine will be on linux, gnu or a similar unix like system and will be using the open source organizations.

Theoretically some people put a lot of hard work in that Photoshop, also, using it you can make money. But you cannot expect people to pay every software they want to have. I live in Serbia, here, people work whole month for about 200-300EUR. Who will pay 500Eur for program? Or even 100?

Not that I download illegal torrents...but if you look at the facts, NO ONE to date has went to jail for downloading programs with torrents. uploading is another matter all together, but why do you think torrents take up 1/3 of ALL internet traffic and yet no one has even been fined yet? illegal...no, morally incorrect...yes. its not stealing, its copyright infringment.

no it aint good to download commercial software.
note: you are allowed to download software which is freeware/shareware or trial etc so long as you keep to the agreement.
