I am rather self consious, so I really wouldn't want a crown in the front of my mouth. And, how do you really know when you have a cavity, since my tooth has been hurting on/off. I have braces as well, but they were tightened about a month ago.

There may be a small cavity on your tooth. The filling material that is used is matched with your existing tooth and you wont even see that there is a filling on the tooth.

If your tooth hurts, especially due to sweets or temperature, you should probably go to the dentist. As for appearance, you have nothing to worry about. Crowns can be silver, gold, or porcelain (white). Gold of course lasts the longest, but the porcelain is just fine for those front teeth. If you don't need a crown, fillings can also be white instead of silver.

Most cavities look like a little dark spot (they're a tiny hole) on the surface of your tooth. Be warned though that a lot of cavities can be between the teeth, so you won't see any indication of it.

THE COLOR OF THIS FILLING WILL MATCH THE COLOR OF THE TOOTH VERY CLOSELY. IT WON'T BE THE TYPICAL SILVER FILLING USED IN BACK TEETH.
