You would be much better off transforming you current XP to function like Vista.

Both has their own pros and Cons.. But considering them all....I would say Vista Upgrade is better. I would say that Vista is so cheesy.

I'm typing this answer on a Vista Home Ultimate. After starting to use vista for a while.. I felt that the XP is so obsolete when it comes to graphical performance. And all the future software market will focus on Vista and develop on their software's on a .NET 3.0 platform.

On the other hand I experience a difficulty on software IDE' s like Visual Studio 2005. Vista raise lot of compatibility issues with VS2005 and SQL server 2005. Had to download a huge Service pack to fix it. Still there is no way of Using VS2003 or SQL server 2000 on Vista. in that way having XP is still better.

Have a Duel boot XP and Vista. Thats what I would DO!!

Good Day!

If you have the money and a fast and powerful enough computer for it then it would be a good upgrade but not a necessary one. I would wait till XP starts to phase out.

Don't be in a hurry. You'll buy a new computer someday. Then you'll get it by default. For now, it's nothing special, just bells and whistles and fluff, and somewhat untested, and a bog-down.
