All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free. After you install any of them, make sure you update them to get the full affect.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

You should be able to renew for less than that, shop around. Last time I renewed with E Trust, I got it for £19.99 online, instead of the recommended price of £29.99.

I find it's easier to renew the one you have if it works properly and isn't causing any problems, It took me ages to get the new one working properly when I changed. If it aint broke, don't fix it!

Whatever you do, DO NOT RENEW NORTON! Norton is byfar one of the worst I have seen, as I have seen earlier, I would suggest either AVG Free (or Pro, if you want to pay), or Avast Home (Or Pro, if you want to pay). I personally use Avast, and I havent tried AVG, but I have friends that use AVG so, just go with either one. BUT MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THEM UPDATED

Norton is over priced an over rated, the best anti virus program is NOD32. If you know how to download torrents this is available for free. If not, email me at: morphfitness@yahoo.co.uk and i will sen you instructions on how to download NOD32.

*MOST ANYTHING* is better than Norton...(personal opinion, grrr). Get AVG:. free.grisoft.com

Or you can pay for it.

Other famous choices: Kapersky, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, ...I'm sure you'll see others in the answers here...
