I am having four problems with Vista, and can use some help.

1. The wireless network icon in the system tray says I am disconnencted even though I am fully connected.

2. The Network and Sharing Center is not functional, and immediately freezes up on me.

3. Windows Security Alerts keeps popping up sayng that I don't have virus protection or Windows defender enabled, but they both are.

4. My MP3s stopped working. In windows media player I get a C00D11D2 error, which says, "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

Norton, Ad-Aware, and Windows defender are all up-to-date and find nothing wrong with my system, and the MP3s do not work iin any folder, as I have tried to move them (they are just on my C drive).

1,2 and 3 these probably have compatibility issues because they work on older systems. 1 and 3 But ive had a similar problem, i disconnect every thing, the modem and router
(or whatever wireless devices you have), uninstalled them, then reinstalled them and it worked.
now the media player. Vista has Media Player 11 which may not work with songs and MP3s from older versions. you should take all your cds and rip the songs on your Media Player 11 on your Vista os. sometimes waiting for compatible programs to come out is helpful

1.If you are using a external wireless card it will cause this
2.My computer have done this too, It doesn't freeze, Giver it a little while it is searching for other stuff on the network.
3.You have to change the security settings under your control panel to tell the computer what programs you are using.
4.This could be a format problem, MP3, WMA,look at that also find the files on your computer and then try to open them on a different media program.

Too early to use Vista. Get back to XP or use Linux.
