I want to make sure the recipient CANNOT extract the contents of the zip file.

Zipped using either Power Archiver or WinRAR archiver.

In case this helps, I want to send a couple of photos, as a zipped file, but want to make sure the recipients cannot copy, save, or modify the pictures. The only thing that I want them to be able to do is view them.

hallmike1, if you give them the password, they will be able to extract them.

They would need the password to view them.

Lots of good views here.

before the user can view the document, the zip file will be extracted into a temporary folder anyway. so i guess there is no way of letting the user view the zip without letting them to extract.

if you are trying to protect documents from being printed, or copied and pasted, try adobe. they have different levels of security. they will still be able to do screen capture and do whatever they want, but at least it wont be so easy.

Understand what you're attempting to do, However, you've overlooked one critical point!

Even *if* they could only view your photos, a simple tap on the Print Screen key or use of a screen capture program would defeat any effort you've made to stop them from copying, saving or editing of your photos........

in case you do not have Vista then acquire a unfastened software referred to as Winzip. you are able to then unzip the record and consider your photographs. In Vista suitable click on the record and an determination could come as much as extract documents right into a common record.
