(I already know that I want to see Australia Zoo, I love Steve Irwin and his work. I am so sad he died!)

I would go to Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney, the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo and the Melbourne and Adelaide Zoos before I went to Australia Zoo. I just think they are better zoos.

Where you go in Australia depends on how much time you have. Sydney is a great place to start. It is the biggest and oldest city with lots to see and do. Alice Springs and Uluru in the red centre are worth visiting as are Cairns and the Barrier Reef. You should be able to see all of those comfortably in a three to four week trip. With a longer trip, anywhere you think of has interesting places to go and things to do. All the capital cities have much to offer.

If you are going to the Australia Zoo. Brisbane should be your base then you can see the Gold Coast tourist mecca as well.

Unless you have a lot of time, fly between places, don't drive. It is 1000km from Sydney to Brisbane and about 3000km from Sydney to Alice Springs and 2000km from Brisbane to Cairns.
