Unfortunately I think there is still enough backward thinking people in this country that neither are likely to get elected any time soon. I personally would vote for whomever the best person for the job is no matter what race or gender, however anyone who votes for a person based only on their race or gender are just as bad as the folks who won't vote for a woman or minority.

I would not accept Obama mainly because he hasnt been in the political world long enough to let me know how he would do but I would vote in Condalisa Rice in a heart beat. She is smart, bright, and most important she doesnt spew political crap that most life time politicians do. You never see her pointing the finger saying that person is to blame for the problem. In fact they asked her to run for president but she refused. Mainly because I think she realizes that the president really has very little power to do anything but must take the blame for everything. If by some act of god they ever get her to run for president I think she will be voted in.
Sorry got off the subject. Race should never come into it. It should be on how you stand up for your pricipiles, your values of what right and wrong are, and most important how you take responsibility for your words and actions.
I am a white male but still feel Condalisa Rice is the best candidate for president in Washington. The only other good candidate I have seen was ross pero and sadly he didnt win but got clinton elected. I dont like the republican or democratic party but have noticed that alot of republicans will vote outside their party lines for what they think is a good candidate where as democratic voters will vote democratic no matter what their candidate has done.

Pee Wee Herman has a better chance of being elected president than does Condi Rice ! And does'nt Obama have a white mother ? He's "mixed" then, isn't he ? BTW. not all blacks have ancestors who were slaves.

Personally I'm going to vote for whoever I think is going to do the job and do it good. I don't care; if their black, purple, blue, green, male, or female. That stuff really should not matter.
As for the rest of the country I do not believe they are ready to accept someone other than a white male. If you think about it the majority of voters are over age 50 and were raised a lot different.

To pick a president for any other reason than their ablility to lead a country is wrong. All wrong. As it is we have both a half black half white and a woman and had they any kind of leadership qualities I might have voted for them but because they do not I won't. I'd vote for Condi!

Condi Rice----hell no! She's just a Bush Yes Wo-Man.
Barack Obama, I would definitely vote for him. Hilary...I doubt she'd win...she's not central enough, too many either love her or despise her. You need the moderates to win a presidential election. Obama might just have what it takes.

Only a complete knucklehead would vote for a candidate based on race, gender or ethnicity. It's questions like this that lead me to believe that America is regressing rather than evolving.

I'm not sure, in the case of blacks, people are even thinking about slavery in their views toward a black President, some just say, "look at all the crime in the country, blacks commit most of it!" and they might not vote for a black for that reason, and for women, I have heard it joked that "we'd have a war every month!" those are only the surface "reasons", of course, those who say these things simply believe that blacks and women are inferior, and don't want them in a position of authority over them.

The only ones that would not vote for a minority or woman who is otherwise well qualified is a bigot. Unfortunately we still have quite a few left even though segregation ended 40 years ago.
