NO.
Same manufacturers .... but the GPU's are not the same as on desktop PC products.
They are designed to use less power, generate less heat, & have a lower profile.... same principal as the CPUs made by AMD or Intel.

ATI, for example, makes a whole line of mobile chpisets designed exclusively for laptop PCs & never used on desktop PC graphic adapters. :

That would depend on what video you have on your laptop. With alot of laptops the graphics proccessing unit shares memory with the system memory, ram. More high proformance laptops will have dedicated memory for the video system. nowa days, in either case its using DDR, double data rate ram. there are other types, ddr is the most common.

The chipset is a separate component from the ram chips.
