I have Windows XP and I've tried the AIM website for help, but they don't list the error there.

Ok, AIM 6.0 requires Windows 2000, XP or Vista to operate.

I can't find anything about an error -1009, the only thing I found that possibly relates to your problem is the lack of a "Root Certificate Update" from Microsoft.

If you go to this link, http://beta.aol.com/projects.php?project=aim6&loc=50, it has other troubleshooting tips and a link to that Root Certificate Update.

Otherwise... I have no clue, AOL/AIM looks like it has crappy tech support for its programs.

nicely if its no longer operating.. attempt rebooting ur workstation then seeing if it particularly works then. if it dosnt then only uninstall it, or pass 2 administration panel and get rid of this technique. then deploy it again.
