my 2 year old daughter is the same. its terrible because all the doctors give you is antibiotics, steroid cream and bath ointment. my daughter got very bad infections in her eczema until my sister told me about aloe vera. you can buy bath wash or get pure gel.
when i first started using it, her skin seemed to get much worse for a few days, it looked as though i had poured boiling water over her, and she screamed when i put it on, her skin had gone into what is called "skin crisis", but i carried on and soon all the eczema had cleared up. she still has eczema, but i have found that giving her eggs seems to make it flare up, so she keeps off them, and if it does start up i use the aloe vera and it stops her from getting into too much discomfort.
I also use piriton (antihistomine) which i got over the counter at the chemist and that also helps relieve the itching and helps her sleep a bit better.
hope this helps

Have you considered any alternative therapies like accupuncture.
It really works wonders for some people and is not at all painful.
Might be worth looking into.
I really sympathise with your situation - my Daughter has recently had a nasty eczema flare up and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as your son's. It's so hard to see them suffering.
You must be both feeling awful.
Another tip I heard about eczema is reducing the child's dairy intake.
I hope you manage to find something that works for your son.
Good luck!
p.s My Daughter is currently using Tri-Adcortyl cream and Diprobase cream and her patches have almost completely gone. We also used Fucidin cream for a few weeks which was also very effective.

My wife had chronic eczema for years, tried everything from chemists, dermatologists etc. Stumbled by accident onto Goats Milk. Use it as a replacement for all dairy products. Un Pasteurised is best, but regular does the job. No more greasy, oily creams, no more steroids. It puts the eczema to "sleep" . Within days he will be better, in two weeks you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. WARNING It's Goats Milk from now till evermore, cows milk even in baking or coffee, etc, could trigger a recurrence. Unlike a few years ago, it has no strong taste, in fact, after a week, even those who don't "need" it will not only prefer the taste, but feel a difference.

keep the areas moistened. I have had very bad eczema all my life up untill 2 years ago, im nearly 28.I was given a new ointment by the dermatologist and its results have been amazing, its a non steroid cream so there's no need to worry about skin thinning. Its called Protopic ointment and it comes in 2 different strengths..I would suggest asking the dermatologist if this ointment is suitable for your child. The only downside its as its an ointment it is rather Oliy but well worth it. i sympathise, its a horrible condition to have, best of luck!

Everyone I have known with eczema (myself included) have always tried antibiotics. They don't work. I had eczema for 16 years. I trialled some Manuka Honey Cream from here in New Zealand with a few other people, after 6 days, none of us had eczema. It was wonderful stuff to use, leaving the skin very moisturised.
I have posted a link that you can order online.
Good luck

I saw a documentary on TV about eczema. This couple had a child with a severe problem and they took him to a chinese medicine treatment centre. Within 6 months it had almost cleared up . The Chinese are very good with skin conditions. They will help your child. I hope all turns out well. I would ask around before you choose one to see which has a good reputation.

Is your 2 year old's Eczema A-Topic??. Many many children get this in their infancy but only about 5% never grow out of it.....I'm one of that 5%. Have had eczema since birth and am now 43.
I really do sympathise with you and your son.......1st try keeping his skin moist with the remedies given by your dermatologist.
2nd - lots of baths in the solutions again given my the dermatologist.
3rd - be careful of steroid creams and ointments at his young age because of thinning of the skin.
4th - be aware of his diet....dairy products often cause eczema to flare up. Milk is one of the main drinks children have.....avoiding dairy products can potentially really help the condition.
5th - stress even in a two year old can cause more itching.....merely saying over & over again "stop scratching" kinda makes his problem emotionally even worse. Try to be calm even though you must be struggling inside. Perhaps if he sees you not stressed he too will remain calm and not scratch as much.
You must surely have him under a specialist - new remedies come out all the time. A suggestion if it is possible for a two year old is prescribed UV light treatment given at the hospital.
Very best wishes to you all and I prey your son grows out of this awfull condition.

I don't have eczema, but i've used essential oils for several other things, and i think they're great. They're natural oils and you would need to do some research about using carrier oils with children, but if i were you i would look into using a natural remedy rather than horrible steriod creams that aren't working. Tea tree oil is a great skin healing oil.
Good Luck!
