October is a great month, weather wise, it's usually in the 80's at the beginning of the month, maybe a 90 here and there, by the end of the month highs are in the middle 70's and nights can get cool.

October is "generally" not a good month to go for room rates, it's a popular month for large conventions, and for the sports nuts who like to come to town to watch/bet on games it drives room rates way up, especially on the weekends.

If you like a little warmer weather try Memorial Day, the week after Memorial Day is one of the cheapest of the year, and for good weather & great rates I know of no better >Check May 28th for 4 nights if you want a real deal, there are some great rates>The Orleans that was mentioned above is $35 a night for those 4 nights>IMHO the Orleans is the best value(hotel) in all of Las Vegas. Trip Advior travelers voted it the #2 "best value" hotel in the world.
http://www.orleanscasino.com >the Orleans will price match any online rate you find for their hotel >

My fav sites for great LV room rates
http://www.travelworm.com >usually the best rates

You don't get the great weather, but if you ever want to go to LV when the rooms are a steal, try December after the NFR up until just before New Years. This year the golden period is from the 9th until the 28th. I'm already holding 10 nights at the Gold Coast Dec 16th - 26th for a total cost of $224 >rate found on travel worm 1/24 ..

The Stratosphere generally has the best rates of any hotel on the strip, not because it's a dump, it's because of it's location at the far North end of the strip. The Stratosphere is actually a nice hotel with a lot to do, and if you don't mind riding the strip bus(Deuce) you can save a lot of money. They have an adult pool if you're so inclined, the Tower of course(free to hotel guests) and a couple of production shows, BIte and American Superstars>pretty good show by the way, especially with the half price tickets which are readily available.

Don't let anyone talk you into staying at>Circus Circus, Sahara, Casino Royale or Imperial Palace>these are very disapppointing and you can do so much better. Downtown don't even think about staying at the Gold Spike or western they are really bad.

I have always found that if I was willing to work at it, I could save money by booking the hotel and air separate.

If you will take the time to "add details" to your Q >date you're going and how many days, I will see what kind of deals I can find. Keep in mind, if you avoid the weekend, special events and conventions you will save a fortune...

I was just in Vegas this past October and I thought that the weather was absolutely great! I'm not a lover of really hot weather but it was in the low to mid 80's the whole time that I was there with lots of great sunshine. I found when I was booking my trip that most of the strip hotels were really high during that month because of all of the conventions that are in town. I stayed at The Orleans which is about a mile off strip and it was a really nice hotel that cost me $89 a night. I went through ALL of the travel websites looking for great hotel/flight deals and found the best Vegas deals at southwest.com. Here's the link that I used http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/hotfares_hotels.html?src=hotfares#hso . Good luck with your trip!

We went last year, the first week of October and the weather was good, except for the rain we had our last day there.

You should be able to get good deals then too. Don't know where you are flying from, but right now spirit airlines is having a $77 each way sale for August, September and October.

Plan your trip so that your overnights are Sunday-Thursday as those are the cheapest nights.

I've lived in Las Vegas now for 17 years. My favorite month is October. Warm days and cool nights. It has been known to get a little windy. Almost any month we expect wind. But considering what the NE is dealing with......I'll take it! Best deals on hotels? Depending on what convention is in town at the time of your visit will dictate what the availability of great rates will be. Good luck and enjoy your visit!

Las Vegas is the absolute most interesting and amusing city on the planet and with hotelbye you will discover out more. Nowhere else on earth you will discover an area that's all of the vacation amenities that only a total resort location could offer: lavish casino resorts, fine food, great live leisure and state-of-the artwork convention and trade show facilities. Las Vegas happens to be a magnificent town and everything that you would assume from the world-class city, and more, is below for your journey pleasure. One of many places you must visit in Las Vegas may be the Fremont Street, a pedestrian area with all sorts of special sites.

I would check the Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau (http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/index.jsp) and http://www.lvcva.com/index.jsp periodically to check on what is going on during October, and specifically when you plan to visit. October is prime convention time since the temperature is somewhat bearable. Try Kayak.com to get an unbaised listing of all the hotel deals available.
