Can't you just plug the laptop into the linksys router? (You should be able to unless there aren't any ports available.)

In any case, just hang the device off the linksys router. (A LAN connection from the linksys into the WAN port on the switch) If there are no available linksys ports, take an existing connection from the device and plug it into the new device. That'll free up a port on the linksys.

If it's a managed switch, you'll need to configure it to get it's info from the linksys device.

The back of the router should have 4 ports on it....

If you wanted more you could hook the switch up to the router through one of the ports....the IP address will be assigned from the router....but why if you only have 2 computers?

attempt replacing out your ethernet cable between your dsl modem and your router. also make efficient that in case your dsl modem has a equipped in router too that the gateway IP address isn't like your linksys. make efficient the firmware is the recent version
