Hi everyone,

I am a seller on eBay. I've never had this problem before. I sold an item on eBay. The buyer had the wrong address in the eBay and Paypal systems. I shipped to her address via the USPS. Then I got an e-mail saying, "I hope you didn't ship to that address...I could've sworn I changed it in the system!" Well, too late. A few days later, the item was returned to my doorstep (I guess they don't forward packages - or she didn't forward her mail). What do I do? She asked if she could pick it up since she only lives 20 miles away. I'm not too thrilled with that (you never know these days). Do I recharge her for the shipping fee? Do I relist the item and return the money (minus posting fees and shipping fees) to her? It's not my fault she moved and didn't change her address. I e-mailed eBay customer service 2 days ago to get an official eBay stance (I didn't see one on their website) and haven't gotten a response. I don't want to wait any longer.

For those who are curious, the item only cost a couple of bucks and shipping was ~$6. So asking for more shipping money is asking for a lot.

I think, going purely by eBay rules, you can do either of the options you listed. However, the right thing to do would be to give her the option, reship with additional shipping fees, or like the other respondent said, meet her at a Starbucks or some place like that and get the item to her. That would be more in the spirit of what eBay is supposed to be about.

Leave it at a post office in her town, but put her address as the sender and the reciver that way she gets it back free. On the shipping paper their is a little box that says: if item doen't get to owner ship to: PUT YOUR ADDRESS that way it gets returned to you, if not to her. Also leave her a note saying that she should change her address and sh!t cause as a seller it gets me mad when they bit*h and stuff about their item they know what they get and recive with the feedback, but still want it their way........ Just leave a good note as a way or giving her the middle finger behind her back.

See if you can meet somewhere that crosses both your paths one day, IE the mall or a fast food place.
I sold an item once that was to ship to an address I pass almost everyday (A few blocks out of my way) and just delivered it.
It would prompt a good repore with the buyer. Good luck

I believe that you really want to sell the item, and the other person has paid for it, so i assume they want it. Why don't you meet her at a library or a mall, and just give it to her.
