The greatest relief pitcher in history......I think so!!! The Yankees owe him a decent contract and I don't blame Rivera one bit. The Yankees need him and Rivera knows it. So do the Yankees for that matter. At the end of the day Mariano will be with the Yankees. I have no doubt about it.

i dont believe they should. if the yankees really wanted to take an advantage of this guy they would trade him a way for a nice young top starting pitcher. They can be hard to come by. But the reason why is because i have concluded from many years of analyzing young pitcher including closers that closers tend to only be at the top of there game for a year or two. Dont get me wrong there still ok but its alot harder to find a great starting pitcher and i think nows the time to use marianos value while he is still considered great to get someone that has talent, probably a young guy

I'm a big Yankee fan. I'm also a Mo fan. However, business is business. He is going to want alot of money over many years and he isn't a spring chicken. If they can get a 3 year deal or less then I would say go ahead. Otherwise, pass. Also, I'm not sure what big name closers will be available at the end of the season either, that will be key.

Hey, considering he's now 38 I might "consider" offering him another year, but definitely Not for over $8 million a year. There are or will be too many good and younger free agent closers the Yankees can get for a lot less now. Like the current adage: "What have you done for me lately." He Was and Has been a great and reliable closer. However, beyond 2007 if is very ify and, IMHO, not worth one cent over another $8 million.

I would extend his contract. He is the best closer in the history of the game and a guaranteed Hall of Famer. There will be a Mariano Rivera day at Yankee Stadium when he retires. They probably wouldn't have been successful in the World Series had it not been for Rivera. They should keep him in pinstripes.

i don't think that the yankees should let the best closer to ever play the game leave specially when hes been nothing but loyal to the yankees and he still wants to play there they have enough money so just give the man his contract

yes keep Mo. keep him until he decides to retire. he's the best closer. the only reason his saves have gone down is cuz the Yankees win by more than 3 runs.

I don't know how you let a closer like that go. At his worst, Rivera is still better than 98% of the rest of the closers in the league.

He is the best closer of our time as far as I am concerned but they will have to weigh out hwo long of a contract he wants, if you are talking a two year deal then maybe but if he wants a four year deal then it is too long for someone of his age and use. He has already started to break down so you have to weigh out how much longer he will be able to do it.

I wouldnt sign him yet. The Yankees have not won anything in awhile and will not win anything if they start keeping veterans because of what they have done in the past. They need to see how he does this year.
